Make a List and Check It Twice
Make a List and Check It Twice
If you publish regular communications pieces, create a proofing checklist, which will help you to deliver error-free, high-quality content. Make sure your checklist includes the basics, such as punctuation, grammar and spelling, but also keep in mind other types of edits that people often forget to check, including the spelling of names, correct titles, dates, special phrases, abbreviations, etc.
Don’t forget to add items specific to your industry or for the type of piece (for instance, remember to edit subject lines for email promotions). Then attach this checklist to copy that is being circulated around your work group for edits by your team members, so that each person can approve each item on the list. This will instill more rigorous quality assurance habits throughout your department, resulting in excellent content.
